Healthy Easter Basket Alternatives

We know it can be tough to pass us candy eggs, jelly beans and chocolate bunnies in Easter Baskets. In the interest of your kids’ well being – both dental and overall body health – here are a few fun ideas. Easter Baskets can be cute, filled with edible goodies and just as adorable – but healthy! Here are Healthy Easter Basket Alternatives….

Easter Egg Fillers:

Fruit Snacks: look for organic fruit snacks that don’t have added sugars.

Homemade trail mix: Mix together dried fruits ( Raisins, pineapple, mango and dates work well) and some unsalted nuts ( peanuts, cashews, almonds)

Healthy Cereals: Try low sugar versions such as Cheerios, Puffins or Kix.

Cheese Crackers: Try to find a healthy version such as Annie’s organic cheddar bunny crackers.

Easter Baskets:

Hard Boiled eggs: These might not be as exciting as a chocolate cream-filled eggs, but they’re significantly healthier. A few colored and decorated, hard boiled eggs will look great in your baskets.

Real Carrots: Grab some carrots that still have their green stems attached. Tie them together with a festive ribbon. You can even add individual servings of ranch dressing or hummus for munching on them.

Fake Carrot: Make a fake ” goldfish carrot” with the fun shaped cheese crackers. Simply fill 3/4 of a clear disposable cake decorating bag with the crackers. Decorate the back with a green ribbon to tie off the top. It makes is look like a fun to eat carrot!
