Greenville's Top Full-Service General & Family Dentistry Center

Full-Service General & Family Dentistry

Our team at Westhill Dental is committed to providing full-service dentistry. We do that by treating each patient with compassion and dignity. Our goal is to help our patients prevent cavities and dental diseases throughout each stage of their lives. We invest in the latest technology so we can provide the best preventative care possible. Our preventive dental services include regularly scheduled exams with the dentist, thorough teeth cleanings with highly trained dental hygienists, digital x-rays, and oral cancer screenings. Our other dental services include the following.

DENTAL CLEANINGS & REGULAR CHECKUPS

Regular dental checkups are an important part of maintaining optimal oral health. The first and most important is good home care – brushing and flossing. This is so important because it is the environment that your teeth are sitting in daily. If your mouth is dirty and full of plaque or food it is very harmful to both tissues and teeth. Secondly, regular dental cleanings and exams help to avoid tooth decay and gum disease and to prevent many expensive dental treatments

DENTISTRY FOR KIDS

We love kids and believe it is important for their long-term health to give them a positive first experience in a dental office. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child have their first visit to the dentist by their first birthday (or when their first tooth erupts). Research shows that early detection and good oral health care impacts their general health and can help improve their school readiness. In addition, children benefit from early exposure to the dental office because it alleviates unnecessary future anxiety about the unknown and allows us to establish a relationship for the future.

TOOTH COLORED DENTAL FILLINGS

When decay gets down below the surface enamel and into the dentin of the tooth, we must remove the cavity (also called caries) and fill that space with a restorative material to preserve the tooth. Common filling materials are silver amalgam and composite resin ( tooth-colored dental fillings).

ROOT CANAL THERAPY

Sometimes the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected. When this happens, the infection must be removed with root canal therapy (also called endodontic therapy) to save the tooth. The nerve tissue and blood vessels are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned with tiny files and irrigating solutions. The decontaminated canals are then filled with a filling material. Root canal therapy both removes infection and protects the decontaminated tooth from future infection.

TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth and is performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay. Fortunately, modern dentistry makes routine tooth extractions relatively comfortable, painless procedures.

DENTURES AND PARTIALS

Dentures and Partials are prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth ( Some people call this a plate). Conventional dentures are removable; however, there are many different designs, some of which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants.

BRUXISM APPLIANCES

Bruxism is a condition in which you grind or clench your teeth. Some people are not even aware that they do this and may unconsciously clench their teeth together during the day or at night while they are sleeping. The evidence is often wearing on their teeth, headaches, and neck pain symptoms.

CUSTOM SPORTS MOUTHGUARDS

If you are an athlete, it is important to protect your teeth during both practices and games. Dental trauma occurs in 25% of children ages 7-14. While some of that injury is accidental, many injuries are sports-related. A mouthguard can help protect your teeth from being broken, displaced, or damaged and requiring years of costly maintenance and restoration.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder marked by repeated pauses in breathing during sleep. These disruptions, caused by airway blockages or brain signaling issues, reduce oxygen levels and disturb sleep. This condition can lead to health problems, including cardiovascular issues. Effective treatments like CPAP machines and dental devices are available.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry offers various sedation methods to help patients relax during dental procedures. It is ideal for individuals with dental anxiety or complex treatments. Sedation ranges from mild (nitrous oxide) to deep sedation (IV sedation), with effects varying from relaxation to unconsciousness. Patients remain closely monitored for safety.
You will find a caring atmosphere at Westhill Dental where you and your family will feel comfortable and confident that you are in excellent care. Our approach to treatment is conservative. But, our approach to prevention is progressive. Our dental team wants to help you maintain your teeth in their natural state as long as possible. Hopefully, in addition to a good home care regimen, we can help you keep your youthful, natural smile for a lifetime!

Great experience today at my first appointment at Westhill Dental in Greenville! Billie was great with being very informative on my x rays, my cleaning, and tips and tricks for future preventative care. Dr Trent was out of the office this week on vacation but I got to meet Dr Ian. I was more than impressed with how personable he was, definitely not the norm with any “medical” appointment. He took the time to explain terms I didn’t understand as well as explain the different options I had for my future dental health. Highly recommend and will be recommending this office to all!

Jen Jirschele

This was my first experience and I appreciate the care that Nicole showed during my cleaning. She explained everything that she was doing and looking for during my new patient visit. Dr. Trent did the same and was very kind and personable. He explained what he was looking for and took the time to have a conversation to connect. I am truly glad I made the switch to Westhill Dental!😁
